On 19th July, we officially launched CASH’s organisational membership, an exciting step forward in building a stronger, more connected co-operative housing movement.

Following the launch, Sanford Housing Co-operative, the UK’s oldest purpose-built housing co-op, became a CASH organisational member. With around 120 tenant-members across 14 houses and a block of flats, Sanford champions community-led housing and now joins a growing network of co-ops working in solidarity to shape the future of social housing.

Moon Housing Co-operative has officially incorporated, marking a new chapter for co-operative housing in South East London. Based in New Cross and Deptford, Moon Co-op is working toward establishing a large co-operative of flats while also seeking temporary housing solutions for members with urgent needs.

We took a scenic train ride to Hastings for our annual September Away day where we regroup after a summer break and start our new year. After a breezy walk up to the hilltops, soaking up coastal views and crisp sea air, we refuelled with a delicious lunch at Kassa Coffee in St Leonards. The day wasn’t just about the views, it was a chance to get to know more recent members outside of CASH ‘work’ and then reflect, dream big and set bold intentions for the year ahead - namely raising funds through a Community Share Offer to purchase the first COS property. Here's to aiming high and moving forward together.

We’re very happy to share that we are currently being hosted by the Feminist Library, a cornerstone of feminist archiving and activism in London since 1975. As a hub for grassroots organising, the Library provides an inspiring space for our upcoming general meetings, helping us shape big plans for the future.

It was a thrill for Glenn Garcia, our first co-opted Board Member, to revisit the Sojourner Truth Centre where the library now lives, for our AGM in July, as she was part of the team who set it up back in the 1990’s

Lara Blazic has started a 12-week knowledge exchange secondment with CASH and the University of the Arts London, UAL, where she is a senior lecturer in creative communication. Focusing on inclusive design and participatory tech for co-operative housing, through this collaboration, we aim to strengthen digital accessibility and participation across CASH’s network.

We’re planning a new series of our Co-op Support group events and all are invited! Hosted by different co-ops, oOur group meetings are casual, friendly and open to everyone, whether you're curious about co-op life, looking to boost participation in your own co-op, or simply want to connect with others in the movement.
