Inclusive Co-ops

2nd edition 2024

Inclusive Co-ops

In the last couple of months we have been busy preparing for our research and learning project exploring how to make co-ops more inclusive. Esra, Herta together with our newly “recruited” project co-ordinators Kwang and Marieke have made great progress reaching out to co-op members, the wider community and potential partners. We are currently arranging our first thematic workshop where we’ll explore some tangible actions toward inclusivity, so watch this space!

In the meanwhile, if your co-op is interested in contributing to the project and choosing a Co-op Inclusivity Champion, get in touch! You can reach us at herta.g@ldn.cash

If you'd like to help shape the project, you can share your thoughts on our proposed plan by filling out this short questionnaire:

We are still in the planning stage and seeking both funding and partnerships. An initial contribution from co-ops would enable the project to take off and allow us to secure further grant funding. The first cycle of the project costs approximately £2500. This would allow us to kick off the first workshops.

We plan to start the process in April, with donations from this fundraiser being used to pay for expert facilitators' time and material costs for the workshops.

Completing this pilot project will put us on the right track to secure funding to deliver the whole programme over a year-long period.

You can donate through our Go Fund Me page (get in touch if a direct bank transfer is easier): https://gofund.me/00e16be5

We would love to see you join us! As more co-ops get involved, this project becomes more representative and useful.

News from other co-ops

Sharing a message from our friend Shiri from Mary Ann Johnson who is currently fundraising to expand their co-op!

WE ARE MAKING GOOD PROGRESS (but still need your help)

So far we raised about £70K towards expanding the co-op: https://maryannjohnsonhousingcoop.com

If you (or that rich aunt) happen to have a larger amount that you could lend us for a set period of time - that would also be great! We offer loanstock, which means you will be repaid in full after an agreed period (with or without interest). There is more information on how you can invest in the co-op here: https://maryannjohnsonhousingcoop.com/

We are now a third of the way to our £200K target! Massive thanks if you already contributed - you are an absolute legend! 😍 BUT our landlords now told us that they are selling this summer, so the clock is ticking... Please donate, if you haven't already, and keep sharing my appeal with anyone you think could contribute: rich relatives, your housing co-op, that wealthy colleague, your former housemate with a trust fund, your reading group... Even small donations add up and make a difference. You can donate directly into our JustGiving crowdfunder: https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/maj-housing-coop
